As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of skill and luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or result a battered position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully built the prime to block the activity of your competitor, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is commonly used when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
