As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift her checkers, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. As soon as you’ve successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of the competitor, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game technique uses alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is often employed when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
