The aim of a Backgammon game is to move your checkers around the game board and bear them from the board quicker than your opponent who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a round in Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you will be able to move your chips is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and the way you move your pieces are decided on by your overall playing tactics. Players use differing plans in the different stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The aim of the Running Game technique is to entice all your chips into your home board and get them off as quick as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of moving your checkers with no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s chips. The ideal scenario to use this tactic is when you think you might be able to move your own chips a lot faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have less pieces on the board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s pieces; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Plan

The main aim of the blocking technique, by its title, is to block the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your chips quickly. Once you have established the blockade for the competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other pieces rapidly off the game board. You should also have a good plan when to back off and move the pieces that you used for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when the opposition uses the same blocking technique.
