As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your game board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan relies on different tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is commonly used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
