As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to move your pieces safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift their pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. After you have successfully built the prime to prevent the activity of the opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is frequently used when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this technique, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
