As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move their checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly used when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
