The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces off the board quicker than your competitor who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you can shift your checkers is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and just how you shift your chips are determined by your overall playing strategies. Enthusiasts use a few techniques in the different parts of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your checkers into your home board and bear them off as quick as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of shifting your checkers with no efforts to hit or stop your competitor’s chips. The best scenario to employ this plan is when you think you might be able to move your own pieces quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent’s checkers; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary goal of the blocking tactic, by its name, is to stop your opponent’s checkers, temporarily, while not fretting about shifting your chips quickly. After you’ve created the blockage for the competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other checkers quickly off the board. The player will need to also have a good strategy when to withdraw and shift the checkers that you used for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when the opposition utilizes the same blocking strategy.
