The goal of a Backgammon game is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and bear them off the game board faster than your opponent who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round in Backgammon requires both tactics and luck. Just how far you will be able to move your chips is left to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and the way you shift your chips are decided on by your overall gambling plans. Enthusiasts use different tactics in the different parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Plan
The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your chips into your inside board and get them off as fast as you could. This plan concentrates on the speed of shifting your checkers with no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s checkers. The ideal time to employ this tactic is when you think you might be able to shift your own pieces quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have less chips on the board; 2) all your checkers have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking plan.
The Blocking Game Tactic
The primary aim of the blocking plan, by its name, is to stop the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips quickly. Once you’ve established the blockage for the competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can shift your other checkers quickly from the board. You really should also have an apparent plan when to back off and move the pieces that you used for blocking. The game becomes interesting when your opposition uses the same blocking tactic.
