As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the opponent, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, that means you move your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions hoping to better your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly used when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the chips are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
