As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any activity of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. Once you have successfully built the prime to block the activity of the opponent, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to boost your chances of winning, but the Back Game plan relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
