As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift her checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, your competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your chances of winning, but the Back Game strategy relies on different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
