As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move their checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, your opponent does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions in hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game plan uses seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game plan is commonly used when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
