In astonishingly simple terms, there are 3 fundamental plans used. You must be agile enough to hop between game plans instantly as the action of the game unfolds.

The Blockade

This comprises of creating a 6-deep wall of checkers, or at least as thick as you can manage, to block in the opponent’s pieces that are located on your 1-point. This is deemed to be the most suitable procedure at the start of the match. You can create the wall anyplace inbetween your eleven-point and your 2-point and then shuffle it into your home board as the game continues.

The Blitz

This is comprised of locking your home board as quickly as as you can while keeping your challenger on the bar. i.e., if your opponent rolls an early 2 and shifts one piece from your 1-point to your 3-point and you then roll a 5-5, you can play six/one six/one 8/3 8/3. Your challenger is then in big-time calamity considering that they have two pieces on the bar and you have closed half your inside board!

The Backgame

This course of action is where you have 2 or more pieces in your opponent’s home board. (An anchor spot is a position consisting of at a minimum two of your pieces.) It would be employed when you are decidedly behind as it much improves your opportunities. The best locations for anchors are towards your opponent’s lower points and either on adjacent points or with a single point separating them. Timing is crucial for an effectual backgame: at the end of the day, there is no reason having 2 nice anchor spots and a solid wall in your own home board if you are then forced to break apart this straight away, while your challenger is getting their checkers home, taking into account that you don’t have any other additional checkers to move! In this case, it’s more tolerable to have checkers on the bar so that you can preserve your position until your opponent provides you an opportunity to hit, so it will be a great idea to attempt and get your competitor to hit them in this case!
