As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon techniques to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move her chips, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your chances of winning, but the Back Game strategy relies on seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is frequently used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
