As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move her checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or result a battered position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the activity of the competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions hoping to improve your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy utilizes different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is commonly employed when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
