As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The aim is to shift your pieces safely around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move their chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
