As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The goal is to shift your chips safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift her chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a battered position if she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point eleven in your board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, your opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game technique utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is generally employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
