As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The aim is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move their checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy uses alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is frequently used when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
