As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The aim is to move your chips safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move their pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic uses different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
