As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The goal is to shift your chips carefully around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of the opponent, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to boost your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy utilizes seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
