As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the board to your home board while at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of your competitor, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to better your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game technique relies on alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often employed when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
