As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your chips carefully around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move her checkers, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, your opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you move your pieces and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of winning, but the Back Game technique utilizes different techniques to do that. The Back Game plan is frequently employed when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
