As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move their pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your chances of winning, but the Back Game strategy uses alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is often utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
