The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the game board and pull those pieces from the game board faster than your opposing player who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you will be able to shift your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and the way you shift your pieces are decided on by your overall gambling strategies. Players use different techniques in the differing stages of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your checkers into your home board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of advancing your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s chips. The ideal time to use this strategy is when you think you might be able to move your own checkers quicker than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary aim of the blocking strategy, by its name, is to stop the competitor’s pieces, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your checkers rapidly. Once you have established the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a few checkers, you can move your other chips rapidly from the board. The player really should also have a good strategy when to extract and shift the chips that you used for blocking. The game gets intriguing when the opposition uses the same blocking tactic.
