As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The goal is to shift your pieces safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move her chips, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game tactic relies on seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is generally used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
