As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her chips, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of your competitor, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to better your odds of winning, however the Back Game technique utilizes seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is generally used when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
