As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move his checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or result a damaged position if she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your opponent, your opponent doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your chances of winning, but the Back Game tactic utilizes seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is often used when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
