As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a battered position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
