As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your pieces safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of the competitor, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan relies on alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is frequently used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
